As monsoon approaches near, pothole related accidents are gonna increase multi fold. In 2015 only, 3,416 case of pothole related accidents were reported. During the monsoon, these potholes remain hidden under the water resulting in extremely dangerous accidents which can also prove fatal. People keep cribbing about these potholes existing all around Indian roads but very rarely anyone does anything regarding it.
Hailing from Habsiguda area in Hyderabad, a twelve year old boy known as Ravi Teja witnessed a pothole accident involving a family of three. All three succumbed to their head injuries. Ravi was so much affected from it that he has started filling these potholes all by himself.
Instead of waiting for the ignorant authorities to take any action, Ravi decided to take the matter in his own hands and started filling these potholes with bricks and stones. Son of a construction worker D Suryanarayana and homemaker Nagamani, studies in the sixth grade in a local government school. His efforts regarding civic responsibility were highly appreciated by the local residents.
While getting interviewed, he was quoted as saying “After watching the accident on the Habsiguda road, I thought I should do something from my side to see that such accidents do not recur”.
Efforts of this youngster is very inspiring, considering the fact that how the civic authorities have turned blind towards such problems.
