Have you ever imagined how difficult it is for the blind to travel ? Its really very difficult for them. Keeping them in view, the Indian Railways has come out with train with Braialle Signage for the blind people.
The Mysuru-Varanasi Express will become the country’s first Braille-embedded train with signage indicating the location of alarm pull chains, toilets, emergency windows and berth numbers. The bi-weekly express (Train No. 16229/16230), which chugs out on Tuesday, will leave Mysuru for Varanasi on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
This new wonderful initiative was financed by Pratap Simha, Mysuru Member of Parliament (MP), from the MPLAD Fund. He also financed Mysore Railway station blind friendly initiative happens on last November 2015 also
The first Braille embedded coach is attached to the Puri – Delhi purushottam express but the Mysuru – Varnasi is the first train to have all coaches Braille enabled said Rajkumar Lal, Divisional Railway Manager, Mysuru Division, South Western Railway at IRCTC news . Braille signage indicating the coach number is next on the agenda.
Indian railways is planning to extend this facility to all the long distance trains and the visually challenged now need not depend on other passengers to find their own berths while travelling
