Grow A Tiny Forest In Your Backyard-AFFORESTT

Want a forest in your backyard?

“THE TRUE MEANING OF LIFE IS TO PLANT A TREE,

UNDER WHOSE SHADES YOU DO NOT EXPECT TO SIT!”

Over 2 billion people rely on forests for food, shelter, water, and livelihood. We cannot underestimate the importance of forests. Besides providing habitats for animals and livelihoods for humans, forests also offer watershed protection, prevent soil erosion and mitigate climate change. SHUBHENDU SHARMA HAS UNIQUELY DONE AN INITIATIVE BY INTRODUCING,“AFFORESTT -URBAN FORESTS”.

HOW TO GROW A TINY FOREST ANYWHERE!

A forest planted by humans, then left to nature’s own devices, typically takes at least 100 years to mature. But what if we could make the process happen ten times faster? In this short talk, eco-entrepreneur (and TED Fellow) Shubhendu Sharma explains how to create a mini-forest ecosystem anywhere.

THE MAN WHO CAN HELP YOU TO GROW A TINY FOREST IN YOUR BACKYARD!

Industrial engineer Shubhendu Sharma was working at Toyota in India when he met Japanese forest expert Akira Miyawaki, who had arrived to plant a forest at the factory, using a method he had developed to make a Forest grow ten times faster than normal. Fascinated Sharma, interned with Miyawaki and grew his first successful forest on a small plot behind a house. He believes in the fact:

“STOP MAKING LAWNS, PLANT A FOREST!”

DID HE MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE?-AFFORESTT

He went for establishing his own company “AFFORESTT”. Today, his company Afforestt promotes a standardized method for seeding dense, fast-growing, native forests in barren lands, using his car-manufacturing acumen to create a system allowing a forest of 300 trees to grow on an area as small as the parking spaces of six cars — for less than the price of an iPhone. Afforestt has helped grow forests at homes together with schools and factories. He’s seen improvement in air quality, equally an increase in biodiversity — and the forests even generate fresh fruit. Afforestt is at work on a platform that will offer hardware probes to analyze soil quality — allowing the company to offer step-by-step instructions for anyone who wants to grow a native forest anywhere in the world.

HIS SITE EXPLAINS:

The damage done to the Earth is repairable. We believe that we can bring back our forests, but only if we act NOW.
We at Afforestt create wild, native, natural and maintenance free forests at the lowest possible cost, both to you and the planet.
