91 year old Dr. Bhakti Yadav has been serving thousands of patients from the last 69 years free of cost. For her commendable act, she has been chosen to be conferred with the Padma Shri award this year.
Early life of Dr. Bhakti Yadav
Dr. Bhakti Yadav is 91 year old warrior born in Mahidpur town of Ujjain district in 1926. During her childhood, she stayed with her uncle in Indore and completed her schooling from there. She grew up to become first lady doctor in Indore after completing her graduation from MGM Medical College in 1948 as the only woman in the batch.
Her will to help others
After finishing her graduation, she got a job offer from a government hospital which she happily rejected. Instead, she joined Nandlal Bhandari Maternity Home to treat the wives of poor cloth mill workers. She was the head of the maternity home for a few decades. After that, she started her own nursing home called Vatsalya in Pardeshipura area.
She is warm and considerate towards her patients and extremely focused towards her work. In these 69 years of her service, she has delivered thousands of babies without charging a penny from the family.
Her old age hasn’t deterred her from giving her everything to her work. For her, serving the needy is her worship and she wants to do so till her last breath. She reveals the secret behind the magic she does. She says it’s personal touch that every doctor should possess which makes it magical for the patients. This is what makes her feel alive and going.
A lot of women suffering from infertility problem have been reaching out to Dr. Bhakti Yadav and she has treated them successfully.
She has been bedridden for two months now after she fell and sustained fractures. But this or anything else, cannot bring down her spirits. She is happy that she is being honored with Padma Shri award. Her ultimate aim is that she benefits people by her actions.
